Tulum is the most emblematic city of the Caribbean coast of Mexico, in the Yucatan Peninsula. Known for its Mayan ruins on a cliff in the Caribbean Sea declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Near the archaeological zone of Tulum is Paraiso beach, considered one of the best beaches in the Riviera Maya, from where excursions to the famous Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (the second largest in the world) are organized. Also, the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, a protected area that measures half a million hectares and includes beaches, coral reefs, tropical jungle, dunes, cenotes and mangroves where many marine and terrestrial species live.

In Tulum we recommend you to try traditional dishes that denote Mayan and Yucatecan influence such as tikin xic, a fish cooked on embers, prepared with achiote dressing, tomato, onion and herbs. Shrimp with garlic mojo, ceviche, Cochinita Pibil, etc.

Ideal dates to visit Tulum:

High season covers the months of December, January, February and March, while the average, the months of April, May and June. But Tulum has 300 days of sunshine a year. We love to go in late October and November, as the weather is ideal and it is not crowded.
