Itinerary

Day 01 - Kruja (Dinner)
  • Welcome to Albania!
  • Arrival at Mother Teresa airport and transfer to the city of Kruja, considered one of the main ancient cities of Albania.
  • During the tour in Kruja you will visit the Ottoman Bazaar, where you can buy antique household items, visit the walls of the Castle, the Museum of History dedicated to Skanderbeg and an old house converted into an Ethnographic Museum that invites you to learn about cultural aspects of Northern Albania.
  • Overnight and dinner.
Day 02 | Kruja-Berat-Vlora (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
  • Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Berat (approx. 3 hrs drive).
  • Berat known as the "City of a thousand windows" declared the Museum City, has three old towns Gorica, Mangalem and Kalaja. The old part of the city has mosques and Byzantine churches, the former name of the city was Antipatrea.
  • Lunch and visit to the Islamic Center.
  • Transfer to Vlora and walking tour of the center.
  • Overnight and dinner in Vlora.
Day 03 | Vlora - Butrini - Ioannina (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
  • Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Saranda along the Albana Riviera. You will enjoy a panoramic mountain ride, descending along the rocky coast and the unspoiled beaches of the Ioannina Sea, during the tour you will have the opportunity to take pictures of the natural scenery, unique landscapes of the village, the fortress of Porto Palermo and the coastal town of Himara.
  • At 18 km from Saranda, you will find the ancient city of Butrini, the most important archaeological site in Albania, and considered a UNESCO world heritage site. During the walking tour you will go back to the ancient world, during the height of Roman power and classical Greek mythology.
  • Departure to Ioannina.
  • Overnight and dinner in Ionannina.
Day 04 |Ioannina - Kalambaka (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
  • Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to start the tour of Ioannina capital of Epirus where you will have the feeling of living in some bygone era, full of secret places and legends that still live on. Wonderful buildings such as the Matei Hussein House and the Ottoman mosque of Veli Pasha, will amaze you.
  • Ioannina has always been multicultural, dominated mainly by Christian, Islamic and Jewish influences. This coexistence of cultural influences is clearly evident in the historic center of the city.
  • Transfer to Kalambaka with lunch at a local restaurant.
  • On the way you will visit Meteora, now a religious site with many Byzantine Churches and Monasteries. A special feature of Meteora is that it looks like hanging rocks and the monasteries are built on the rocks overlooking the beautiful valley which previously made them practically inaccessible. The first monasteries were built for hermits and ascetic monks to isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Years later more were built in order to protect themselves from the Ottoman invasion.
  • Arrival in Kalambaka.
  • Overnight and dinner in Kalambaka.
Day 05 | Kalambaka - Bitola - Ohrid (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
  • Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Bitola with lunch at local restaurant. Bitola is historically known as Monastery, located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Macedonia, is one of the oldest cities in the region.
  • During the Ottoman rule, the city together with Thessaloniki were the two reigning cities of the Ottoman Rumelia.
  • Continue to Heraklea, famous for its mosaics, ancient theater and Roman baths. Heraklea is one of the best preserved cities of ancient Macedonia.
  • Continue to Ohrid.
  • Overnight and dinner in Ohrid.
Day 06 | Ohrid (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Tour of Ohrid: the city and its surroundings have been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The tour includes a visit to the Church of St. Sophia (11th century), the most representative medieval monument in Macedonia with magnificent Byzantine fresco paintings, and the Church of St. Clement with its icon of the Annunciation.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Rest of the day at leisure, you may choose to take a boat tour across Lake Ohrid.
  • Overnight and dinner in Ohrid.
Day 07 | Ohrid - Elbasan - Tirana (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure from the hotel to head towards Tirana capital of Albania City, en route we will stop in Elbasan, a place known by its Latin name Scampa, which has served as the seat of the city, the church and the army. You will see the castle built by Emperor Docletian (305 AD). During the Roman invasion the castle was rebuilt for strategic purposes. The castle is uninhabited, but has important religious artifacts. The visit includes the main gates, the city center and the clock tower.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • You will continue the tour to Tirana, considered the economic and cultural center of Albania, with a history enriched by the interaction of the original cultures of Islamic and European Christianity. The center of Tirana clearly shows the influence of Italian fascism. Designed by famous Italian architects, it houses some of the main institutional buildings of today. The tour will highlight some symbols and remnants of the communist era to give you a general understanding of the history of Albania.
  • Overnight and dinner in Tirana.
Day 08 - Tirana (Breakfast)
  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • There will be a visit to the National Museum of History in Tirana, the largest museum in the country. The giant mosaic at the main entrance, made by contemporary artists, is entitled The Albanians and is about the Albanian people throughout history.
  • At the end of the tour, transfer to the airport.
