Itinerary

Day 2: Buenos Aires

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning we will take a pedestrian walk to learn a little more about the origins and history of the city with the Walking Tour - Old Neighborhoods: Starting our tour at the Recova del Cabildo of Buenos Aires. Taking Defensa Street as the axis, we will make an introduction about the old city of the Holy Trinity, its architectural advances, its oldest churches, the markets, the tango, the conventillos and the antique shops. It is a combination of architecture, history and curiosities of one of the most famous capitals of Latin America. The cobblestone streets, the Pasaje San Lorenzo and the Mínima house, the monument to Mafalda or the Viejo Almacén are some of its main points. At the end of our tour we will visit the San Telmo Market: a very porteño stroll, with antiques, gastronomy and the best of the city's culture. Free time for lunch (not included).

In the afternoon we will visit the northern neighborhoods of the city on a bike ride.

BUENOS AIRES TO THE NORTH

This is a circuit that combines history and modernity. Puerto Madero and its two faces, on one side reminiscent of the second and last port of the city with old docks converted into excellent restaurants facing the buildings that are the most modern and tallest in Buenos Aires.

History returns in Retiro, the Plaza San Martin reminds us of the epic of the great Argentine hero, while it is the scene of buses, cars and pedestrians moving to or from the center of Buenos Aires. Then we go through the Recoleta neighborhood, with its French buildings, the impressive Cemetery, exclusive stores, museums, art galleries and its tree-lined parks that lead to Palermo. In addition to the green spaces, there are also corners that testify that the choice of this area by wealthy families from the late nineteenth century, is still alive today with the expensive residences currently inhabited by a high social class.

Lodging.

A different experience since nature is the main protagonist and we are invited to discover it always respecting the environment.

Early in the morning we will be picked up at the hotel to head south, the National Park is located 12 km from the city where we will spend 8 hours immersed in nature.

Upon reaching the edge of the ice, the guides put crampons on the participants, who receive instructions on how to move on the ice. The tour over the glacier takes approximately 2 hours and, during the course of it, a variety of ice formations such as crevasses, seracs, sinkholes, small lagoons, etc. can be appreciated.

The hike is moderate. The ice surface on which you walk is irregular, but firm and safe. You will receive explanations about the flora, fauna and general glaciology of the region as well as the particular phenomenon that occurs in the P. Moreno Glacier and eventually produces its rupture.

At the end of the walk, you will return to the refuge through the exuberant Magellanic forest.
