Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN DELHI

Upon arrival at Delhi airport transfer to hotel.

Room available from 1400hours. Delhi, one of the oldest cities in the world, has an excellent ambience of an old city in Old Delhi, and the modern in New Delhi.

The perfect combination of old and new worlds makes it a fascinating option to explore.

DAY 2: DELHI

Breakfast.

Morning sightseeing tour of Old Delhi, passing by the Red Fort, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and enjoy a ride on a rickshaw (man-pulled bicycle cart) at Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and largest bazaars in India. Crisscrossed by narrow streets with stores jostling for space, Chandni Chowk gives the feel of old Delhi shopping.

Since the 17th century era, this place is rightly called a "shopper's paradise" in Delhi. During the reign of Shah Jahan, there was a tree-lined canal running through its center and reflecting the moon. Hence, the name "Chandni Chowk" came about, meaning "place of moonlight".

Then, we visit the Jama Mosque, the largest mosque in India. Next on your tour we visit Gandhi Smriti (also called Birla House), is the place where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on January 30, 1948.

Then visit the Gurudwara, the Temple of Sikh religion, an architectural beauty. Sikhs by their religion perform Seva also Sewa, short for the word Karseva refers to "selfless service", work or service performed without any thought of reward or personal gain.

Volunteers who participate in Seva are known as Sevadars. During their visit to the kitchen, they will have the opportunity to become a sevadar and participate in the cooking by making chapatis (Indian omelet), helping to prepare lentils, vegetables and serving the numerous people seated waiting for food.

It is a very uplifting experience in that in a way you are giving something back to the community/people.

In the afternoon, visit of New Delhi. Visit the Qutub Minar, a gigantic 72m tower, built by India's first Muslim ruler, Qutub-ud-din Aibak. Walk through the government buildings, Rashtrapati Bhawan (residence of the President of India), the Parliament and the Gateway of India (Arch of Triumph).

DAY 3: DELHI/UDAIPUR

Breakfast.

Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Udaipur.

Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Udaipur, a city also called the "Venice of the East" and the "City of Lakes". Udaipur is also the center of performing arts, handicrafts and its famous miniature paintings.

Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Pichola with a view of the Jag Mandir Palace.

DAY 4: UDAIPUR

Breakfast.

Morning visit of the city Palace which was built in a fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles on a hilltop and offers panoramic views of Lake Pichola and the Monsoon Palace.

The 300-year-old complex actually consists of 11 palaces built by its successive Maharanas, making it the largest complex among the palaces of Rajasthan. Later, visit the Jagdish Temple, a temple of God Vishnu.

Afterwards, a sightseeing tour including stroll around the Fateh Sagar Lake and visit to the Sahelion-ki-Bari or the 'ladies' garden', built in the middle of the 18th century.

Afternoon at leisure for independent activities.

DAY 5: UDAIPUR/RANAKPUR/JODHPUR

Breakfast.

Morning departure by road to Jodhpur (300kms, 6 hours approx.) visiting en route the Jain temple at Ranakpur (without the guide - because the temple only allows audio guide in English).

The temple is an amazing creation of architectural splendor, with 29 halls and 1,444 pillars all clearly carved, no two pillars are alike.

After the visit we will continue by road to Jodhpur, a city located almost on the edge of the Thar Desert. Jodhpur is also known as the "Blue City" as most of the houses in the old part of the city are painted blue. Forts and palaces, temples and havelis, culture and tradition, spices and fabrics, color and texture all add to the charm of this historic city.

DAY 6: JODHPUR

Breakfast.

Morning visit to Meherangarh Fort, which has a crown of a perpendicular cliff, which was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 AD, when the city grew. Inside the Fort is the palace of the Maharaja, several temples and a large garden. Also visit of Jaswant Thada, the white marble imposing memorial, built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II in 1899.

Later, visit the Umaid Bhawan Palace and museum to see a private collection of artifacts of the royal family of Jodhpur. In the afternoon experience a village safari to get a feel of the pulse of rural Rajasthan. The small mud houses, the turban-clad men, the shy and beautiful women, dressed in their traditional costumes. The market with its rich array of products is sure to enchant you.

To make this experience even more intimate, you can visit the homes of the villagers and share a piece of their life.

DAY 7: JODHPUR/JAIPUR

Breakfast.

Morning departure by road to Jaipur (Approx. 335kms, 6 hours), the capital of Rajasthan, also known as "The Pink City" as the old city had turned terracotta pink in 1876 to welcome Prince Albert. Transfer to the hotel.

Later, visit the Birla Temple, originally known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, built in pure white marble and dedicated to God Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.

DAY 8: JAIPUR

Breakfast.

Morning visit to Amber Fort and enjoy an elephant ride (or alternatively Jeep ride with no change in the price quoted).

Amber Fort, located on the picturesque and rugged hill, is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Built by one of Akbar's most trusted generals, Maharaja Man Singh I in the year 1592, Amber Fort served as the main residence of the Rajput rulers.

Amber Fort through its great ramparts, several gates and paved roads overlooks the Maotha Lake in the city of Amer, which used to serve as the capital of the erstwhile princely state of Jaipur. Then stroll through the beautifully restored Jal Mahal, a former royal pleasure pavilion.

Afternoon visit to the Maharaja's City Palace, which houses the former Royal Residence and a museum celebrating the collection of the royal family of Jaipur.

Then visit the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of the Winds - the five-story facade of 593 latticed stone sieve windows, an emblem of the city of Jaipur. Also visit the Jantar Mantar or the Astronomical Observatory. This is the largest and best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country.

Later explore the exotic and colorful 'bazaars' of Jaipur to discover the artistic richness of the region.

DAY 9: JAIPUR/AGRA

Breakfast.

Morning departure by road to Agra (Approx. 240kms, 5-6hours) en route stop at Abhaneri to see the Chand Baori step well, with its precise geometrical design and maze of steps and to explore its rural surroundings. Continue by road to Agra, an ancient city as mentioned in the great epic 'Mahabharata' and was the center of attention during the reign of the Mughals.

It is famous for being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a monument of such incredible elegance that it is considered synonymous with beauty in itself.

DAY 10: AGRA

Breakfast.

Morning visit of the Taj Mahal* (closed on Fridays), the most fascinating and beautiful monument in India. The Taj Mahal was completed in 1653 AD by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his favorite queen, Mumtaz Mahal. This perfectly symmetrical monument took 22 years of hard labor and 20,000 workers, masons and jewelers to build and is set amidst landscaped gardens.

Also visit the Agra Fort, an imposing fortress on the banks of the Yamuna River, built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD.

In the afternoon enjoy view of the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh, located on the opposite bank of the Taj Mahal.

Overnight at Hotel.

Visitors will now have only three hours to complete their tour of the Taj Mahal, from the time of entry to departure. The three-hour time limit begins after passing the ticket barrier and the security check begins after that. If a tourist stays inside the complex for more than three hours, a fine of INR600 per person, which is approximately USD 10 per person, is payable. Rules and regulations are subject to change at any time.

DAY 11: AGRA/DELHI

Breakfast.

Morning departure by road to Delhi (Approx. 210kms, 4 hours). Upon arrival in Delhi, visit the Lotus Temple (closed on Mondays), or Bahai Temple, which is located nearby and is famous for its Lotus Flower shape.

Afterwards, visit the Akshardham Temple (closed on Mondays), a true work of art built very recently thanks to the donations of thousands of wealthy Hindus. It is a place that summarizes 10 thousand years of culture, with all its grandeur, beauty, hope and blessings.

DAY 12: DEPARTURE FROM DELHI

Breakfast.
