Description of excursions

Moon Valley. (PM Service)

We will begin our experience from your hotel to visit the Valley of the Moon and the Licarantay Viewpoint, tourist icons of the north of our country. The Moon Valley is part of the Salt Mountain Range and is undoubtedly the most visited area. Its mountains dotted with sparkles, enormous dunes, rock formations, and ravines make it a true spectacle to behold. You will see the Tres Marías, the Canyon, the Amphitheater, the Victoria salt mine, and the Licanantay Viewpoint. We will begin the tour by leaving San Pedro de Atacama for the Cordillera de la Sal in the Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth, heading to one of its most picturesque spots: the Moon Valley. The names already give a clear clue to the landscape, where rock formations shaped by erosion, salt mantles, the Duna Mayor, and views that will make you feel like you are on another planet reign supreme.

We will visit the Tres Marías, the Canyon, and the Amphitheater. To end the tour, we will enjoy the sunset from the Licarantay viewpoint, where you can see how the desert changes color, with large volcanoes on the horizon, offering a spectacle that will leave you speechless. Afterwards, we will return to the hotel. * Approximate start time: 2:30-3:10 p.m.

* Approximate end time: 6:30 p.m.

Rainbow Valley, Petroglyphs, and Yerbas Buenas. AM Service

We will begin our experience from your hotel to appreciate the rock art and discover the colorful mountains of Rainbow Valley. Located about 90 km from San Pedro de Atacama, it is in the Río Grande basin, very close to the Yerbas Buenas Petroglyphs. It owes its name to the wide variety of colors that can be seen in the hills of the valley. The colors reflect the great richness and different concentrations of clay, salts, and minerals. We start very early, traveling 90 km from San Pedro to the Río Grande basin, where we arrive at the Rainbow Valley. It is named for the variety of colors that can be seen in the hills of the valley: earth tones, reds, beiges, greens, whites, and yellows.

All combined with traces of white salt and a blue sky. The colors of this area show the ecological richness of the clay, minerals, and salts. We will visit this place on a 1-hour walk there and 1-hour walk back, then we will move on to the Salado River area, where a small valley is formed in which we can take a walk to appreciate the landscape. Then we will visit the Yerbas Buenas petroglyphs, finally returning to San Pedro de Atacama where the activity ends.

* Approximate start time: 7:00-7:30 a.m.
* Approximate end time: 12:30 p.m.

Altiplanic Lagoons, Piedras Rojas, and Laguna Chaxa

We will begin our experience directly from your hotel early in the morning to start our excursion outside the city. During the trip to Piedras Rojas and Altiplanic Lagoons, we will explore tourist sites of great importance in the Atacama Desert. To reach Piedras Rojas Lagoon, also known as Salar de Aguas Calientes, we will travel in our vehicle to an altitude of 3,800 meters, where we will take a one-hour and fifteen-minute walk to appreciate the impressive copper-colored rock formations, as well as the surrounding lagoons and salt flats. Afterwards, we will head to the area of the Miscanti and Miñiques Altiplanic Lagoons, where our guide will explain the flora and fauna that inhabit this environment.

We will also stop at Laguna Chaxa, where you will have the opportunity to observe flamingos in their natural habitat. We will continue our journey through Socaire and the Tropic of Capricorn, where we will make a brief stop to take some memorable photographs. Finally, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama to conclude our tour.

* Approximate start time: 6:00-6:40 a.m.
* Approximate end time: 5:00 PM.

Tatio Geysers, Machuca, Vado de Putana. Early morning service

We will start our tour directly from your hotel, exploring one of the most remarkable geothermal fields on the planet and immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of a picturesque regional village. Our first destination is the amazing geothermal field of the "Tatio Geysers," located 4,200 meters above sea level. This place is home to the largest group of geysers in the southern hemisphere and the third largest in the world. To enjoy this unique experience, we will set off before dawn, heading for the heights of the Andean highlands. There, we will witness an impressive spectacle: 80 geysers with their columns of steam, a phenomenon unique in the world.

We will enjoy approximately an hour and a half exploring this fascinating landscape. After recharging our batteries, we will continue our journey back, exploring the hills and mountains of the majestic Andes. On this route, we will have the opportunity to contemplate the diverse high-altitude ecosystems, such as the Machuca wetlands and the Putana Ford, which are home to an exceptionally rich biodiversity.

Our last stop will be in the charming village of Machuca, where we can immerse ourselves in the local culture and traditions before returning to the starting point.

* Approximate start time: 4:30-5:10 a.m.
* Approximate end time: 12:00 p.m.
