Description of excursions
- Panoramic tour of the city of Santiago de Chile.
We will start our experience at your hotel in Santiago, to visit the main sites of tourist interest, starting with the historic center of the capital and ending with the modern buildings that emerge from it.
First, we will visit the center of the city, starting with its main avenue, Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins Avenue, better known as Alameda, where you will see the Presidential Palace of La Moneda, a neoclassical building, so called because it is where the coins that circulated within the country were minted in the past.
Next, we will walk along the central pedestrian walkways of Huérfanos and Ahumada, which bring together the most commercial activity of the city and lead to the Plaza de Armas, a strategic place from where the first layouts of the city were made.
Around it is the Cathedral Church, the Central Post Office and the Municipality of Santiago. Later we will visit the Cerro Santa Lucia, an important architectural and historical site, which represents a place of connotation, as it is the strategic point of the founding of the city.
Then we will pass by the Forestal Park and the Museum of Fine Arts, with the Mapocho River at its side. We cross the river to reach the Bellavista neighborhood, a renowned bohemian neighborhood that concentrates a strong cultural, artistic and nightlife activity, finally the new center of the city, the municipality of Providencia, and the neighborhoods of Las Condes and Vitacura, protagonists of the growth and modernity of Santiago.
- Maipo Vineyards (Viña Santa Rita)
We will start the tour from your hotel to the Maipo River Wine Valley. Viña Santa Rita is only 45 minutes from Santiago, located in the foothills of Alto Jahuel, near the town of Buin.
We will visit Viña Santa Rita, one of the most important wineries in the country, which is surrounded by a unique natural environment where the winemaking tradition coexists with Chilean history, culture and gastronomy.
We will take the Classic Experience: A tour through the History of Chile and its Viticulture, starting at the Vineyard Garden guided by an expert who will take us through the vineyards and the winemaking, storage and bottling cellars. We will visit the historic Bodega 1, made of lime and stone, and the famous Bodega de los 120 patriotas, today a National Monument.
We will continue with a tasting of reserve wines and then we will have free time to visit the Andean Museum and the souvenir store of Viña Santa Rita, returning to the hotel.
- Maipo Vineyards (Viña Udurraga)
This day we will visit one of the most traditional wineries in Chile, Viña Undurraga, which was the first to export its wines and paved the way for Chilean wine to be recognized as one of the best in the world; today dozens of countries receive and enjoy the excellent products of Viña Undurraga.
We will start in the Aroma Room to expand our senses and then visit Undurraga Park, created by the French landscape architect George Henry Dubois, who also designed Santiago's Forest Park, one of the landmarks of this city.
We will continue to the Rincón Aliwén, a place where part of the vegetation of southern Chile is recreated and where homage is paid to our main native people, the Mapuches, exhibiting figures of their culture and making known their worldview.
We will tour the vineyards and learn about the terroir of the valley through a Calicata, identifying the different grape varieties cultivated by Undurraga through a garden of varieties and we will see the winemaking process of the different products.
We will access the centuries-old subway cellars and appreciate the Gente de la Tierra collection, a sample of Mapuche and pre-Columbian life and art in honor of our native peoples.
We will conclude with a tasting of three reserve wines, receiving our glass as a souvenir and returning to the hotel in Santiago.
- Chilean Cooking Class
We will start at the Central Market, which, besides being known for its classic sale of fresh fish and seafood, stands out for its architecture (it was designed by Gustave Eiffel).
Such is its relevance that it has been internationally recognized by NatGeo as one of the 10 most important food markets in the world.
We will then walk to the Vega Central, where we can enjoy the colors and aromas of various fruits and vegetables.
After buying the main ingredients for our class we will head to the vibrant Barrio Italia, a renowned area where art, cuisine and culture combine perfectly.
Together with our Chef-Instructor we will cook and learn the secrets and recipes of Chilean gastronomy and then, of course, we will enjoy our dishes accompanied with excellent Chilean wines.
After lunch we will return to the hotel.
